NORTH BRUNSWICK BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL - 2008 LEAGUE AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Board of Directors meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:30pm (8:00pm April thru August). All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

League Offices:

North Brunswick Baseball and Softball Association
    P.O. Box 7805
    North Brunswick, NJ 08902
(new phone number to be released)

League Objectives:

  • Provide the youth of North Brunswick and surrounding areas with a facility for developing skills in general as well as those skills associated with baseball and softball
  • Provide the youth with examples of how to conduct themselves when participating in a sporting event. These include sportsmanship, teamwork, respect for others, desire to improve their skills, cooperation, respect for those in authority (to include managers, coaches, umpires and peer groups)
  • To instill in our youth the understanding that to perform well at any sport, effort must be expended in developing particular skills. That the best way to develop these skills is through practice and drills.
  • To make our youth aware that though winning is important; two more important goals are (1) to improve our skills and (2) to enjoy the games of baseball and softball.
League Structure:

Please note for the 2008 Season Babe Ruth has instituted a change in the cut-off date for calculating league age. We will now be using ages as of April 30th to determine league placement for baseball.

Volunteering / Work Bonds:

The N.B.B.S.A is a not-for-profit organization, established for the benefit our league’s children. The only workers that get paid are umpires; everything else must be done by volunteers. It is expected that parents want to be involved in their child’s baseball or softball experience. Your children are counting on it.

Managing or coaching is perhaps the most visible way to help. Some other positions you may not be familiar with include: League Director, Equipment Manager, Uniform Manager, Field Snack Shack Worker, Field Maintenance, Candy Sales Manager, Opening Day Committee, RBI Committee (i.e. Parents Auxiliary) and others. If you are interested in any of these, please indicate your preference on your registration form. As in each of the last several years, we will be holding a Youth Sports Festival where it is expected that all parents will participate.

It is your responsibility to work you work bond hours. If you do not work your work bond will not be returned. We will do our best to return work bonds during the season but this is not always possible. If you do not receive your check during the season and you have worked, it will be returned prior to the annual awards picnic held in September.

To ensure everyone participates, a work bond is required for each child. To satisfy this requirement, a minimum of four (4) hours of volunteering is required. For families with three or more children registered in the N.B.B.S.A, only the two oldest children will be work bonded.

Fund Raising:

For the 2008 Season the NBBSA will be using a Candy fundraiser.
